TED and Pseudoscience

TEDx is an international community of thinkers who organise TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) -style conferences. They have not been immune to the recent creep of pseudoscience evident in many walks of life and have been accused to promoting such ideas.

In a damage-limitation exercise, the heads of TED issued a letter this week to encourage local organisers to actively seek out and avoid peddlers of pseudoscience. While the letter does give some nice rules of thumb about spotting scientific delusions, I find it a little worrying that this is necessary for such a respected organisation:
